James Paxton to undergo MRI after leaving game with knee soreness
The New York Yankees provided some clarity on the injury James Paxton is facing.
Paxton left his start after three innings on Friday despite not allowing an earned run, surprisingly giving way to Jonathan Holder. The Yankees later announced that Paxton exited due to soreness in his left knee and will undergo an MRI on Saturday.
This news will likely be met with a groan from Yankees fans, who have grown accustomed to the team’s mounting injuries this season.
Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Severino, Dellin Betances, Clint Frazier, and Aaron Hicks are among the Yankees on the injured list. Miguel Andujar and Didi Gregorius are getting closer to returns for the team.
Paxton is 3-2 with a 3.11 ERA this season, with the team winning his last three starts.
