Red Sox reporter Jessica Moran resigns amid questions about relationship with John Farrell
Jessica Moran resigned from Comcast SportsNet after questions arose regarding her relationship with Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell.
Moran, who has worked for CSN New England since 2009, said in a text message to the Boston Globe that she had resigned.
“I have stepped away from Comcast SportsNet as I thought it was in my best personal and professional interest to do so,” Moran told the Globe. “They have been extremely supportive during my tenure at the network — and with this decision — and I am very appreciative of that.”
Farrell was married to wife Sue for 30 years and has three children with her, but he says the two have been separated for the past two years. The Globe says she was not with him for his chemotherapy treatment last year nor has she been seen around Fenway Park much the past two years.
Farrell declined to comment much on the matter, saying his “private life is private.” The Red Sox media guide lists him as not married.
The situation surrounding Moran reminds many of what happened with Jenny Dell. Dell was reassigned as NESN’s Red Sox reporter in Jan. 2014 after it was learned she was involved in a relationship with the team’s third baseman at the time, Will Middlebrooks (details here). She eventually left NESN altogether and is now married to Middlebrooks.
