Former MLB manager Jimy Williams has died.
The Toronto Blue Jays on Monday shared the news that Williams has died at age 80.

No cause of death has been revealed.
Williams was named manager of the Toronto Blue Jays in 1986. He remained in that role until he was fired midway through the 1989 season. Williams then worked as an assistant coach for several years before the Boston Red Sox hired him as their manager in 1997.
Williams led the Red Sox to the playoffs twice in four-plus seasons, including when they lost to the New York Yankees in the 1999 ALCS. He was fired in 2001 and then hired by the Astros in 2002 but failed to reach the postseason in two-plus years with Houston.
As a manager, Williams finished with a record of 215-197 in the regular season and 5-9 in the playoffs. He does have two World Series rings, however. The first came when he served as third-base coach under Bobby Cox with the Atlanta Braves in 1996. Williams won another World Series in 2008 when he was Charlie Manuel’s bench coach with the Philadelphia Phillies.
