Joe Buck: Royals may be ‘best team I’ve covered’ (Video)


FOX play-by-play man Joe Buck says this year’s Royals may be the best team he’s covered since he started doing the World Series.

Buck made the remarks on MLB Network’s High Heat on Sunday with the Royals one win away from clinching the World Series.

“This is my 18th World Series,” Buck told host Christopher Russo. “I could make the case that this is the best team I’ve covered.”

It’s very high praise coming from Buck, who called two of the titles won by the Yankees dynasty in the late 1990s, as well as Boston’s first championship in 2004, among others. I’m not sure I buy it – after all, that 1998 Yankees team won 114 games before cruising through the postseason, and are widely regarded as one of the best teams in baseball history. However, there is no denying the Royals are a real force. They still have to close out the series, though, but with three chances to do it and two of them in Kansas City, it seems a matter of when, not if.
