Watch: Jon Lester belts three-run homer to opposite field
Jon Lester has been one of the most reliable starting pitchers in baseball for over a decade now, but one thing he is not known for is his hitting ability. He sure looked like a seasoned veteran at the plate on Sunday.
With the Chicago Cubs trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Lester put a beautiful swing on a 3-2 pitch and drove it to the opposite field. Many watched in awe as it sailed over the outfield wall at Wrigley Field.

That three-run homer was only the second big fly of Lester’s career, but perhaps he is getting better at hitting the older he gets, because his first home run came last season. Who said the National League should adopt the DH?
