Juan Lagares hits home run and robbed Jayson Werth of one in same game (Videos)
Juan Lagares is the best centerfielder the New York Mets have, so his absence from the team’s starting lineup for three consecutive games isn’t sitting well with many around The Big Apple.
Lagares made his return to manager Terry Collins’ lineup card on Saturday against the Washington Nationals and marked his presence with authority. In his first at-bat, Lagares singled to score Chris Young. In the third inning, he took a Gio Gonzalez pitch over the wall in left-center field for a 2-run home run.
To add to what was already a solid game for the 25-year-old, Lagares then robbed Jayson Werth of a home run in the sixth inning.
Not a bad way to respond to being inserted back into the starting lineup, huh?
It sounds like we will get to see Juan Lagares in action again on Sunday. Beyond that is anyone’s guess though, because this is the New York Mets.
Juan Lagares will start Sunday. No promises beyond that.
