While Justin Verlander faced a difficult choice in whether to accept a trade to the Houston Astros, it ultimately came down to winning.
Verlander met the Houston media on Sunday morning for the first time, and went through the thought process that ended with him leaving the Detroit Tigers after 13 years and accepting a trade to Houston on Thursday.

At the end of the day, it’s no surprise Verlander decided to go. He’s ultra-competitive and wants to win, and the Tigers probably won’t be doing much of that over the next few years. The Astros, on the other hand, are World Series contenders now. You can tell that the decision was an emotional one for him, but he probably made the right one.
