Kenley Jansen provides update after undergoing heart surgery
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen underwent surgery this week to address a heart condition he has been dealing with off and on for several years, and he said Wednesday that he is thrilled with the results.
Jansen was able to call into MLB Network to discuss the procedure, which he says took more than five hours. The 31-year-old said he is feeling “fantastic” other than some chest tightness and a bit of soreness related to the surgery.
"It was a 5 1/2 hour procedure. Everything went fantastic. They found the problem."

While Jansen said there are no guarantees that he will not experience complications going forward, the doctor who performed the surgery told him he is 90 percent confident he will never have the same issue again.
Jansen has experienced chest tightness on numerous occasions during road trips to the play the Colorado Rockies, and he said he will always have to be cautious when playing in high altitude like that. However, it’s certainly good to hear that a doctor believes an issue the right-hander has been so openly frustrated about in the past has been resolved.
