Things are not going according to plan for Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant.
Manager Joe Maddon admitted Bryant could return to the disabled list as the shoulder injury that had already sidelined him for three weeks continues to bother him.
Maddon not sure if Bryant will be available Thursday, as for possibility of DL stint: “it’s not impossible. Everything is in play.” Darvish to throw off a mound again this weekend in STL

Bryant is missing his second consecutive game on Wednesday, and it’s not clear when he’ll return to the lineup. Maddon said Tuesday that rest is the best way to handle this, but the Cubs are reluctant to give in if he can play through it. For the moment, it doesn’t look like he’s capable of doing so.
Bryant is hitting .276 with 11 home runs despite the nagging shoulder issue. It may just be best to shut him down for a while to have him as healthy as possible for the stretch run.
