Kyle Schwarber hits awesome home runs. He even does so during batting practice, which is bad news for any vehicles that may be parked a bit too close to the ballpark.
Pitchers and catchers are beginning to report for duty, and the same is true in the Cubs’ spring home of Mesa, Arizona. It was there that Instagram user, Cubs fan, and spring training attendee Peter Gesler found out about these perils the hard way when Schwarber launched one right into his car windshield.
Spring training is a dangerous time for reasons just like this. All it takes is one perfectly-placed home run ball on a practice diamond or one of the minor league parks and you get this. At least the recipient seems to be taking it well.
Beware if you’re headed to Mesa. Between the bats the Cubs already had and the additions they’ve made during the offseason, this may not be the last batting practice casualty of the spring.
