Kyle Tucker makes a ridiculous mistake on the basepaths in NLDS Game 3

Kyle Tucker on the basepaths

Kyle Tucker suffered a cramp between the ears during Game 3 on Wednesday.

The Chicago Cubs outfielder Tucker committed an absurd mistake during his team’s NLDS game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Ill. During the fifth inning with the Cubs leading 4-2, Tucker led off with an infield single off Milwaukee’s Jose Quintana. The Brewers then turned to Grant Anderson in relief, and he managed to strike out the next batter, Chicago’s Seiya Suzuki.

Then during the next at-bat by Cubs outfielder Ian Happ, Tucker started dancing around on the basepaths. He took a sizable lead off Anderson, seemingly trying to time his delivery. But Anderson then quickly stepped off, and Tucker was dead in the water.

Here is the hard-to-believe video.

Tucker did steal 25 bases during the regular season. But that is probably a risk that you do not want to take with a two-run lead in an elimination game.

The four-time All-Star Tucker ultimately got let off the hook as the Cubs held on to win 4-3, thus forcing a Game 4 against the Brewers on Thursday. But Chicago was very lucky to extend their season as they also gave up a run on an awful defensive blunder during the first inning (video here).

Meanwhile, Tucker entered play on Wednesday hitting just .176 this postseason. He is unfortunately in a contract year as well and has had a hard time winning over the Cubs faithful during his first season in Chicago (even getting booed at Wrigley Field a couple of months ago).
