Luke Scott calls Fenway Park a ‘dump’
Luke Scott is one of the most outspoken players in professional baseball, and over the past few months he has done his best to become public enemy number one for the people of Boston. To Red Sox fans and others who appreciate baseball history, Fenway Park is a temple. It has as many flaws as you would expect from a 100-year-old ballpark, but the nostalgia trumps all that. Right? As a visiting player, Scott does not feel that way.
According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Scott was asked on Thursday about the Rays making a trip to Fenway Park this weekend. He noted that he appreciates the history of Fenway, but also added the following: “As a baseball player going there to work, the place is a dump.”
How dare he? Prior to that comment, Red Sox fans may have been too busy booing the 1-5 home team on Friday to remember that Scott called them arrogant, ruthless, vulguar trouble makers over the winter. With this latest comment fresh on their minds, I’m sure the Beantown faithful will let him hear the noise.
