Madison Bumgarner sent a great message to Bruce Bochy ahead of Game 7 of the ALCS between Bochy’s Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros.
Bumgarner became a free agent after being released by the Arizona Diamondbacks in April. He spent the first 11 seasons of his MLB career with the San Francisco Giants, whom he helped win three World Series. Bochy was his manager during his entire San Francisco career.
According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, Bumgarner sent Bochy a message offering to pitch Game 7.

In the hours before another Game 7 for Bruce Bochy today, he got a text from Madison Bumgarner, offering to pitch.

That’s great. And Bochy probably wishes he could get the 2014 version of Bumgarner for the rest of the postseason.
Bumgarner was an excellent pitcher in the regular season, but he was truly exceptional in the postseason during his career. He went 8-3 with a 2.11 ERA during his postseason career and took home both NLCS and World Series MVP honors in 2014.
Bumgarner was especially incredible during the World Series. Bumgarner was 4-0 with a 0.25 ERA in his World Series career. He never lost a game he pitched during the World Series.
Bochy’s scheduled starter for Game 7 against Houston was Max Scherzer. Scherzer is a 3-time Cy Young Award winner and future Hall of Famer, but he’s know Bumgarner in the postseason. Very few pitchers are.
