Madison Bumgarner has simple reason for bounce-back expectation
San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner has endured back-to-back injury-plagued seasons, but he has total faith that he’ll be at his best come Opening Day.
Bumgarner offered a pretty simple reason for that expectation: he’s healthy and hasn’t suffered any stupid injuries.
Madison Bumgarner is confident he will be himself again on opening day. Why? “Because I don’t have a broke hand or a separated shoulder.”

It’s worth noting that despite his health issues, Bumgarner has pitched fine whenever he’s been on the mound. Though he’s been limited to 38 starts since the start of the 2017 season, he’s posted a 3.29 ERA in those outings. He’ll be fine as long as the Giants don’t try to subject him to any “opener” strategy this year.
