Marlins creating permanent memorial to Jose Fernandez
The Miami Marlins are drawing up plans for a permanent memorial for fallen pitcher Jose Fernandez.
According to Jon Heyman of Fanrag Sports, owner Jeffrey Loria and other Marlins officials are currently planning some sort of permanent memorial at Marlins Park.
Loria declined to give details on what the memorial would consist of, only confirming that it was happening and would be “something wonderful.”
The owner admitted that he has struggled mightily to cope with Fernandez’s death.
“I’m having a rough time getting through this,” Loria admitted.
The Marlins already intend to retire Fernandez’s jersey number, but a more permanent memorial for fans to visit and pay tribute at is surely a good idea.
