Matt Harvey apparently isn’t doing much to get himself back in the good graces of the New York Mets.
Ian Mohr of Page Six reported on Monday that the former All-Star was partying in Los Angeles the night before a shaky recent outing against the San Diego Padres. Harvey attended the grand opening of Avra, a high-end Greek restaurant in Beverly Hills, last Thursday. He then rejoined the Mets for their series opener against the Padres on Friday (which had a 7:10 PM first pitch) and came out of the bullpen for one inning, giving up a home run and a walk.
“[Harvey was] out at the Avra opening stumbling around,” Mohr quoted a source as saying. “He had to sit down at one point. He must have been so desperate to party, he came up from San Diego.”
However, Mohr also quoted a second source who said that “nobody knew who Matt was, [but] he was sober.”
Harvey, 29, has had a rough start to the 2018 campaign, going 0-2 with a 5.76 ERA in seven appearances. He was demoted to the bullpen earlier this month.
Harvey has long been a controversial personality in New York due to his off-field activity. In fact, this is not the first time that Harvey has been accused of similar behavior.
