Matt Holliday could land on DL with back injury
Matt Holliday could end up on the 10-day DL after hurting his back on Friday night.
The New York Yankees DH tweaked his back on a swing and could end up on the DL, according to what manager Joe Girardi said Saturday.
Matt Holliday tweaked his left lower back on a swing last night, Joe Girardi said. 10-day DL is a possibility.

Holliday had a great first half, but he has absolutely tanked since July. He batted .262 with 13 doubles and 15 home runs in the first half, posting an .877 OPS. Since the All-Star break, he’s batted .136/.165/.198. A DL stint would probably serve him well.
If Holliday does end up on the DL, that could lead to potentially more playing time for Jacoby Ellsbury, who has been a part-time player this season. The 57-51 Yankees are second in the AL East and have dropped the first two games of their series with the Indians.
