Watch: Max Muncy breaks Game 5 tie with RBI single
Max Muncy broke a 1-1 tie in Game 5 of the NLCS on Wednesday with an RBI single to put the Los Angeles Dodgers ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Muncy was batting with runners on first and second and had a 1-2 count against Brandon Woodruff. The left-handed hitter hit a ground ball to the left side of the infield where a shortstop is traditionally positioned. Thanks to the Brewers’ shift, Muncy’s ball went into a hole between the shortstop and third baseman for an RBI single.

The hit actually knocked Woodruff out of the game following the longest outing of his season. Woodruff went 5.1 innings, striking out eight. He left on the hook for the loss with his team down 2-1. Muncy’s hit helped him turn things around after striking out his first two at-bats.
