The Washington Nationals are finally getting some good news about ace right-hander Max Scherzer.
According to manager Dave Martinez, Scherzer threw off flat ground on Friday, and provided there are no setbacks between now and Saturday, he could throw a bullpen session.
Davey says Scherzer threw off flat ground today, light throws. If all goes well bullpen session tomorrow. Davey said just exercising precaution as reason for not conducting bullpen session today

Scherzer had been struggling to throw off flat ground as recently as this week, so this counts as progress. The Nationals’ ace has started just once since July 6, and while it doesn’t appear that a return to the mound is imminent, it’s at least something that the team might be able to start thinking about if he gets through Saturday’s bullpen session unscathed.
