Mets demote Michael Conforto in roster shakeup
Things have not been going well for the New York Mets recently, and Michael Conforto has become a casualty of their struggles.
The Mets sent the young outfielder to AAA Las Vegas on Friday a day after Terry Collins went off on his team for their poor play.

Conforto has struggled mightily since the All-Star break, is hitting just .218, and his playing time has been inconsistent. He’s hit at every level of the minors, and he had plenty of success in the majors in 2015, hitting .270 and slugging .506 in 174 ABs, hitting two homers in one game during the World Series. He’s better off playing, and with Collins apparently unwilling to give him time at the big league level, it had to be done.
On Thursday, Collins threatened to make changes if things didn’t improve. This may only be the first move as the Mets try to stay in the race.
