Jefry Yan appears to have learned his lesson.
The New York Mets reliever Yan pitched Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles (which ended up as a 7-1 victory for Baltimore). Yan threw three innings out of the bullpen and was making his first appearance for the Mets after being optioned back to Triple-A Syracuse earlier this month.
Over his three innings of work at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y., Yan recorded three total strikeouts. After each strikeout, Yan did a more muted celebration than usual.
He dramatically went to a knee and did a little slide move instead. Take a look at the video.

The 30-year-old left-hander Yan had become famous (or perhaps infamous) for leaping high into the air upon striking out a batter. But Yan did the celebration prematurely on multiple occasions, leading to humiliation for both himself and the Mets.
Yan, who entered play this week with an ugly 5.68 ERA over 13 total big-league appearances this season, managed to retire all nine batters he faced on Wednesday. He is still showing off a bit of personality with his new celebration but definitely seems to be toning it down for a 69-83 Mets team.
