Mets not expecting Yoenis Cespedes back until second half of season
The New York Mets are making aggressive moves this offseason, but one of their key players may not feature for quite some time in 2019.
Mets COO Jeff Wilpon admitted Wednesday that the team’s expectation is that outfielder Yoenis Cespedes won’t return to action again until the second half of the season at the earliest, and it may take even longer than that.
The Mets expect Yoenis Cespedes to return "realistically, the second half of the season," Jeff Wilpon said on @WFAN660. He added that the timetable could be longer.

Cespedes featured in only 38 games for the Mets last season. He had surgery on both heels in July, and progress appears to be slow. It’s a major factor to consider, even as they’re acquiring players like Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz.
