Mickey Callaway sent encouraging text to Matt Harvey after Reds debut
Matt Harvey may have left the New York Mets, but his old manager is still rooting for him.
Mets manager Mickey Callaway said Saturday that he texted Harvey after his solid four-inning debut with the Cincinnati Reds and sent him an encouraging message.
Callaway said he texted Harvey: Way to go. Pulling for you.

Harvey’s relationship with the Mets ended up being checkered, to say the least. He was an All-Star and a vital part of the team’s 2015 National League pennant, but health issues and off-field distractions did a lot to tarnish his legacy. It’s clear, however, that Callaway feels he didn’t do enough to help Harvey, and they’re rooting for him to succeed elsewhere — even if that might not reflect well on the Mets’ ability to aid him.
