Report: Miguel Cabrera determined to have big bounce-back season
Last year, Miguel Cabrera took an L, but this year he wants to bounce back.
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reported on Friday that the Detroit Tigers slugger is said to be “determined” to have a “big bounce-back season” in 2018.
Cabrera, who will turn 35 in April, was limited to 130 games last season due to a multitude of injuries, most notably to his back. The result was perhaps his worst season as a professional — a career-low .249/.329/.399 slash line to go along with just 16 home runs and 60 RBIs. The two-time American League MVP also snapped a streak of seven consecutive All-Star selections.
Cabrera is still owed a colossal $184 million over the next six seasons. As such, this determination to return to form is definitely a welcome development in Detroit, even if he may be dealing with injury issues for the rest of his career.
