
Mitch Moreland will be returning to the Boston Red Sox for the 2020 season.
Moreland has agreed to a one-year deal with the team, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. Rosenthal says Moreland will make $2.5 million in 2020 and has a $3 million team option for 2021. He has a $500,000 buyout for 2021, meaning he is guaranteed to earn $3 million.
Mitchy 4-bags has spent the past three seasons with the Red Sox. He has batted .247 with a .326 on-base percentage and .455 slugging percentage over his Red Sox career. He actually made the All-Star team in 2018 after beginning the season hot.
Moreland, 34, brings a left-handed bat to a lineup that features several right-handers. Michael Chavis will likely split time with Moreland at first base.
