We may have to turn for Dan Plesac for tomorrow night’s lottery numbers.
Plesac, a former MLB pitcher who now works as an analyst for MLB Network, had an unbelievable prediction prior to Friday’s Game 1 of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers. While providing pregame coverage for the contest at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ont., Plesac noted that Toronto outfielder Addison Barger was not in the starting lineup.
However, Plesac astutely went on to predict that Barger would play a big role for the Blue Jays at some point during the game.
“Addison Barger, not in the starting lineup,” said Plesac. “But he will come off the bench and be a left-hander off the bench. And he’s gonna run into one, and Rogers Centre is gonna come unglued.
“He is gonna get a pinch-hit at-bat in the seventh, eighth, or ninth inning, and he’s gonna send this place into a frenzy,” Plesac added about Barger.

As fate would have it, Barger did indeed get his chance as a pinch-hitter against a lefty (Dodgers reliever Anthony Banda) and made the most of it. Though it occurred in the sixth inning (rather than the seven, eighth, or ninth), Barger got to Banda for a monstrous grand slam that blew the game open and turned Rogers Centre into a madhouse (video here). Toronto went on to take Game 1 by an 11-4 final score.
The 63-year-old Plesac deserves plenty of credit for that impressive moment of clairvoyance. This has become par for the course too when it comes to MLB Network hosts, who never miss when it comes to their bold predictions.
