Mookie Betts is one of the best players in baseball, and he offered further proof of that on Wednesday.
Betts missed three days with a tight hamstring and promptly returned with a three-homer game against the Kansas City Royals — his second three-homer game of the young season.
The Royals must have wondered what they had to do to get Betts out. The first pitch was toward the knees, the second homer was on the outer half of the plate, and the third homer didn’t even look like it was going to be a strike.

It was the fourth three-homer game of Betts’s career, passing Ted Williams for the most such games in Red Sox history. He’s a star who seems intent on making this David Ortiz prediction come true.
