MRI comes back clean on Yu Darvish’s throwing arm

Yu Darvish was placed on the disabled list over the weekend with what the Chicago Cubs referred to as triceps tendonitis, and the team received some excellent news this week regarding the right-hander’s injury.

On Wednesday, the Cubs announced that Darvish’s MRI revealed only inflammation, not structural damage. He is expected to begin throwing again within the next several days.

Darvish did not get off to the best start with the Cubs after signing a $126 million deal this past offseason, but the team must be relieved he avoided a major injury.
The 31-year-old is 1-3 on the season with a 4.95 ERA, and the Cubs admitted they were concerned about him before his injury occurred. Hopefully Darvish can come back stronger once he is fully healed.
