New Mets GM gets grilled by radio host Mike Francesa
New Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen got his introduction to the New York sports media in an unpleasant way.
Van Wagenen did an interview with New York sports radio host Mike Francesa on WFAN Tuesday and was completely grilled.
Francesa did not sugarcoat anything. He challenged Van Wagenen about the team’s lineup and roster and was in disbelief when the GM called the lineup “good.”
“You didn’t inherit the Yankees, you know. You inherited the Mets,” Francesa told him.
Francesa said he would take the Atlanta Braves’ roster over the Mets’ and said that Van Wagenen would too. You can listen below.

Van Wagenen is a former sports agent who specialized in baseball negotiations. He represented Mets players Yoenis Cespedes and Jacob deGrom.
The Mets finished 77-85 this season. They made the World Series as recently as 2015 and lost in the wild-card game in 2016.
