Nick Markakis re-signs with Braves on one-year contract
The Atlanta Braves are bringing back one of their most dependable outfielders for the 2019 season, as they have reached an agreement on a new contract with Nick Markakis.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Markakis has signed a one-year deal with an option for 2020. He will earn $2 million next season, and the Braves will have the option of bringing him back again in 2020 for $6 million or paying a $2 million buyout.

The Braves later confirmed the details in a press release.
While Markakis recently turned 35, he appeared in all 162 games for Atlanta last season and had an extremely productive year. He hit .297 with 14 home runs, 93 RBI and an impressive .366 on-base percentage. Markakis has never played in less than 156 games in his four seasons with the Braves.
At just $4 million, Markakis will be an incredible value if he can come close to replicating his 2018 season.
