Watch: Noah Syndergaard somehow breaks bat on odd swing

Noah Syndergaard somehow broke his bat on a swing during Sunday’s game without even making contact with a pitch.

Syndergaard was batting in the bottom of the third inning for the New York Mets against the Miami Marlins. He ended up striking out on four pitches, but somehow his bat broke on this swing:

Syndergaard is actually a pretty good hitter for a pitcher. He’s a career .174 batter with four homers and a .522 OPS. He’s better than average. But that was pretty inexplicable. Maybe it was just the strength of Thor showing up.
