Pablo Sandoval reported to camp at Fort Myers, Fla., on Tuesday to begin the first chapter with his new team, and he presented the same issues for the Red Sox that he did with the Giants: his weight.
Sandoval, who signed a five-year, $95 million deal with the Red Sox over the offseason, showed up looking every bit as round as we are used to. The photo at the top shows Sandoval sporting a healthy gut, which has become his go-to look during spring training.
A few other photos of Pablo do show him looking a little better:

Weight was a problem throughout Sandoval’s seven-year tenure with the Giants, in which he helped the team win three World Series. He went up and down (mostly up), though he did have some spurts where he lost weight.
Regardless of his weight, Sandoval is excited to begin working with his new team.
“I’m excited, excited to be in camp,” Sandoval said via CSN New England. “I’m excited to be part of the organization. I’m excited to be in white and red. I love it.”
Sandoval was really looking forward to a new start. He reportedly felt disrespected by the Giants, even though the team supposedly offered him more money. We believe he will be motivated to put together a strong season, which should be great news for Boston.
