Dave Roberts may no longer be with the San Diego Padres organization, but now his son is.
In the 38th round of the MLB Draft on Wednesday, the Padres selected the Los Angeles Dodgers manager’s son Cole, a shortstop who is committed to play for Loyola Marymount University.

The elder Roberts was a Padres coach for five seasons from 2011 to 2015. He also played for San Diego during his career from 2005 to 2006.
Now father and son will be National League West division rivals, which could lead to an awkward Thanksgiving dinner or two. It’s especially so since Dave has had a bit of beef with the Padres since becoming manager of the Dodgers.
