The San Diego Padres are at least willing to listen to offers for a former Cy Young finalist.

The Padres have fielded inquiries regarding pitcher Dylan Cease and are willing to listen, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. The New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, and Boston Red Sox have all checked in on the pitcher, though the Padres are not motivated to move him.

It would be something of a surprise if the Padres were to sell on Cease now. He has had an up-and-down year, with a 4.64 ERA in 20 starts. His value is not at its highest.

In addition, the Padres enter play Wednesday at 55-46, and are very much in the hunt for a playoff spot. One would imagine the team would want MLB-ready contributors if they did part ways with Cease now.

If the Padres did want to trade Cease, he would immediately shoot toward the top of the list among available starters. Last season with San Diego, he had a 3.47 ERA, finished fourth in NL Cy Young voting, and threw a no-hitter.

The Yankees are known to have a long-standing interest in Cease. So are the Red Sox, and those two might be among the most motivated to make a deal in the unlikely event that the Padres decide to ship him out.
