Watch: Padres pitcher Chris Paddack embarrassingly thrown out at first from outfield

Chris Paddack

Chris Paddack proved himself to be more than an automatic out at the plate, though he did embarrass himself and show his limitations in the process.

Paddack was batting with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the second inning of the San Diego Padres’ game against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. He lined a Jeff Samardzija offering to right field for what appeared to be an RBI single, but there was one problem: he got thrown out at first by right fielder Gerardo Parra.

He’ll probably hear about that from his teammates after the game, though the way he was pitching, they will probably take some mercy.

The 23-year-old was pitching well in his MLB debut and had allowed just two hits while striking out seven through five innings.
