The San Diego Padres are looking to improve the club as they believe they are close to becoming a contender. According to one report, the Padres have had trade talks with the New York Yankees about pitcher Sonny Gray.
MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reports that the Padres have had ongoing trade talks with the Yankees about Gray. He says other teams are also involved.

Gray was a terrible fit in New York, going 15-16 with a 4.51 ERA over one and a half seasons with the team. He was much more successful in a smaller market and larger park in Oakland, going 44-36 with a 3.42 ERA.
The Padres, which play in a large park and small market, would seemingly be a perfect fit for Gray. The Reds and A’s are among the other teams said to have interest in him.
