Padres showing interest in Noah Syndergaard
The San Diego Padres are looking to bolster their pitching rotation for the future and have checked in on some aces.
In addition to showing interest in Tampa Bay’s Chris Archer, the Padres have reportedly shown trade interest in New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard. The Athletic’s Dennis Lin reported the news on Tuesday night.
The Padres have checked in on Noah Syndergaard in their wide-ranging search for a frontline starter, sources tell The Athletic. @Ken_Rosenthal reported significant interest in Chris Archer earlier today.

This is not the first time the Padres’ interest in Syndergaard has been mentioned. After all, Syndergaard is just 25 and 6-1 this season with a 2.89 ERA and 2.90 career ERA. Who wouldn’t have interest in him?
The bigger question is whether the Mets would be willing to part with either Syndergaard or Jacob deGrom, both of whom would net a huge return in a trade. A report last month said the Mets would be more open to trading Syndergaard than deGrom, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’d move either pitcher.
