Cubs’ Pedro Strop declares himself available for wild-card game
Chicago Cubs reliever Pedro Strop says he’s ready to go for Tuesday’s National League wild-card game.
Strop hasn’t pitched since Sept. 13 with a hamstring injury, but declared himself ready to go in the wake of the Cubs’ loss in the NL Central tiebreaker game.
Pedro Strop just told me that he'll be ready to go tomorrow. https://t.co/HNJmZSGrEM

Strop had been the Cubs’ fill-in closer with Brandon Morrow out for the season. He’s posted a 2.26 ERA this year, and the Cubs definitely felt his absence on Monday. He had previously made it clear that he’ll be ready to go for Thursday, but at that point, he was assuming that Chicago wouldn’t need a wild-card game to get things done. Now they do, and he says he’ll be ready for it.
