Ex-MLB pitcher Phil Hughes has drastic suggestion for players over Astros cheating
If there’s still any doubt about just how angry MLB players are about the response to the Houston Astros cheating scandal, this latest take should give you an idea.
Longtime MLB pitcher Phil Hughes wondered if players would consider a work stoppage in response to the lack of penalties against Astros players for masterminding the electronic sign-stealing system.
I know this may sound extreme but I’m curious if the players have considered a work stoppage until real punishments are handed down

I know this probably can’t and won’t happen but what are the 99.9% of players who care about the game’s integrity supposed to do? Just carry on like everything is fine?

Hughes is right that this is almost certainly not a consideration, but it’s a sign of how angry players must be that one ex-player who is familiar with the mindset would be thinking this way. The perception is that the Astros got off lightly for all they did, especially the players, and based on other comments, that anger runs deep and won’t be fading anytime soon.
