Philadelphia PD has funny tweet about Bryce Harper speculation
Baseball fans are getting impatient as they wait for free agent superstars Bryce Harper and Manny Machado to choose their next teams, and the result has been plenty of speculation and unfounded reports. The Philadelphia Police Department has decided to have some fun with that.
On Monday morning, there were some rumblings that Harper had agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies after Las Vegas supposedly took down its prop betting lines for where the slugger is going to end up. That turned out to be not true, but the Philly PD says Harper has taken a job in the city — just not as a baseball player.
The rumors are true*: Bryce Harper* is coming to Philadelphia [police]*. It's a multi-year deal worth $51,245 per year to start, with a city option to increase annually. Please refer all questions regarding Manny Machado to @PhillyFireDept . (*not actually true.) pic.twitter.com/enXKtKLMft

Unfortunately for those who protect and serve in Philly, Harper is not going to be joining the force. If he wasn’t a Scott Boras client, perhaps there would be a greater possibility of that happening.
There’s been a growing trend with police departments cracking sports jokes on social media, and we’ve seen some great trash talking with it recently. Kudos to the Philly PD for putting their own spin on things.
