This Phillies graphic about Cody Bellinger did not age well

Cody Bellinger

Those working the graphics department at Citizens Bank Park might be regretting poking the bear.

When Cody Bellinger came to the plate to lead off the second inning of Monday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies, a note on the scoreboard said that Bellinger didn’t have an RBI against the Phillies this season.

True enough, Bellinger had hits in each contest of the Dodgers’ three-game sweep of the Phillies earlier in the season, but no RBIs.

Though Bellinger struck out in the second, the words quickly came back to bite the Phillies in the rear. Bellinger homered in the fifth and seventh and then singled in the eighth and ninth. He finished the game 4-for-6 with four runs scored and two RBIs as the Dodgers pounded the Phillies 16-2.

They’ll need a new tidbit for Bellinger on Tuesday, hopefully one that doesn’t have as much potential to backfire.
