The Philadelphia Phillies had a brutal series against the Houston Astros this week, and the team’s fans are happy the series is finally over.
The Phillies got swept in their three-game series with Houston and only scored one run over the three games. The team had gone 26 consecutive innings without scoring (including not scoring in the final inning of a win over the Mets on Sunday night). They finally broke through with a run against the Astros in the top of the 8th inning on Thursday to tie the game at 1. Unfortunately for them, the Astros scored in the bottom of the 8th to take a 2-1 lead, which ended up as the final score.
The Phillies’ social media team acknowledged the accomplishment with a post on X.

Now that the Phillies have gotten the tough part out of the way, the next step would be to win a game.
The sweep dropped the Phillies’ record to 47-34 and made them tied with the New York Mets atop the NL East pending the outcome of the Mets’ game later in the day.
