Watch: Pirates fan throws opponent’s home run ball into river
A Pittsburgh Pirates fan took the whole “throw it back!” notion to another level.
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Keston Hiura got off to a scorching start on Wednesday night. He began the game 3-for-3 with two homers and a double off Pirates starter Trevor Williams. In the top of the first, he went opposite field for a big home run to make it 1-0.
A Pirates fan who brought his glove to the game caught the ball and then ran straight to throw the ball into the river:

So much for any memento for Hiura.
There seems to be something instinctual about wanting to throw a home run ball back, as this youngster could tell you.
