Prince Fielder came into Thursday’s game between the Rangers and Astros with just three home runs on the season. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Fielder hit his fourth long ball, one that proved to be costly.
When Fielder launched the line drive to right field, a young lady was using her cell phone. She looked up to see the ball headed in her direction and, in a moment of self defense, put her hands up in front of her face. In one of her hands was the phone, which the baseball found. The result was shattered screen.
While the young lady did not get the ball that did the damage, she did receive an autographed Rangers baseball. Next up, is a brand new phone.
Hopefully for Fielder, the home run is a sign he’s starting to turn things around. After going 34 consecutive games without one, Thursday’s was the second home run for Fielder in his last nine games.
