Randy Levine goes after media over questions about whether Yankees should sell

New York Yankees president Randy Levine did not respond well when asked about the prospect of the team being sellers, going after the media in response.

Levine was asked to respond to those who believe the Yankees should be sellers at the trade deadline, and he resorted to the old argument that you can’t criticize if you’ve never done it.

Randy Levine called suggestions the team should be sellers "nonsense" and then ripped the media. #Yankees pic.twitter.com/2RhU1Ez9sg

This is not a good look. There’s a way to respond to your critics and this isn’t it. The whole “we know what we’re doing” thing would be a lot more acceptable if the Yankees and their bloated payroll weren’t treading water at the .500 mark. There’s a sense of arrogance here, and Levine comes off as, well, the exact sort of guy your average Yankee hater would think runs the Yankees. If Levine wants to see a better way of dealing with questions about the Yankees’ future and status for this season, Hal Steinbrenner’s recent comments would be a fine start.
