Rays reportedly will consider offers for Evan Longoria
Could third baseman Evan Longoria’s eight-year career in Tampa Bay be nearing an end?
According to a report by Jon Morosi of FOX Sports on Tuesday, the Rays will consider offers for Longoria this winter with the Los Angeles Dodgers being listed as a possible suitor in the event that they fail to bring back free agent third baseman Justin Turner.

The 31-year-old Longoria had an excellent 2016 campaign, batting .273/.318/.521 with 36 home runs and 98 RBIs. He is owed $99 million over the next six seasons thanks to the contract extension he signed with Tampa Bay back in 2012.
This latest news directly conflicts with a report from earlier in the week that suggested the Rays were not interested in moving Longoria. If nothing else, Tampa Bay would be wise to do their due diligence and see what kind of return package they might get with Longoria likely at the peak of his value and the opportunity beckoning to shed his contract before it becomes an albatross.
