The Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels 11-9 at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass., on Wednesday on the shortest walk-off home run you will see.
Ceddanne Rafaela was batting against Brock Burke with a runner on first and one out in the bottom of the 9th inning. Burke threw an 87-mph changeup that he left over the middle of the plate. Rafaela connected and sent the ball down the right field line. It went just inside the foul pole for a walk-off 2-run home run.

Yes, that snuck inside of Pesky Pole and traveled an estimated 308 feet. That’s about as short as it gets.
The game was a wild one. The Angels opened the game with four runs, but the Red Sox responded with five in the bottom half to take the lead. The Angels retook the lead in the second, but the Red Sox tied it in the fourth. The Angels took the lead again in the 5th, with the Red Sox tying it in the 7th. The Angels went up 9-8 in the eighth, but the Red Sox tied it in the bottom of the eighth before winning it in the 9th.
That was Rafaela’s 6th home run of the season, and it easily traveled the shortest distance. Who cares though? He and the Red Sox will take it.
