Boston Red Sox shortstop Ceddanne Rafaela is drawing attention for the daring move he attempted in the field this week.
Rafaela’s Red Sox lost 8-3 to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. During the top of the fifth inning, the Braves had Orlando Arcia up with a runner on first base and nobody out. Arcia hit a ground ball to short. Rafaela fielded it and stepped on second base to force out a sliding Sean Murphy. Then Rafaela jumped, spun around mid-air and tried to throw to first. His throw went wide of first base by about 15 feet.

Good try, good effort, Rafaela. He was doing his best Derek Jeter attempt but it didn’t go so well.
Rafaela is a valuable utility player for the Red Sox. He plays shortstop and in the outfield, so it’s not easy moving around like that. But let’s just say he played in center field for Boston’s 9-0 win over the Braves on Wednesday.
