Everything continues to go wrong for the San Francisco Giants in 2026.
Giants left fielder Victor Bericoto was injured during Sunday’s game against the Boston Red Sox. In the fifth inning at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass., Bericoto attempted to chase down a foul ball off the bat of Boston shortstop Andruw Monasterio.
Bericoto was ultimately unable to make the catch after a fan in the stands (wearing a Red Sox jersey) reached over into the field of play to try to snag the ball. The fan could not make the catch either but caused the ball to deflect back onto the field.
The charging Bericoto had to adjust his stride as a result of the deflection and twisted his right ankle and knee in the process. Here is the video of the play.

Bericoto was able to hobble off the field under his own power. But he was promptly replaced in the game by Giants teammate Drew Gilbert in the next half-inning.
Monasterio got called out on the play after it was ruled to be fan interference, and the fan himself was reportedly ejected from the game soon after. As for the 52-77 Giants, this continues on a year of comically bad luck for them.
