Report: Angels willing to trade OF Taylor Ward
The Los Angeles Angels are looking at a lost season, and one of their leading players may be on the move before the trade deadline.
The Angels are open to trading outfielder Taylor Ward, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. The Angels are also listening on other players, but Ward is the most prominent name that might be moved.
For the moment, the team has a high asking price for both Ward and Jo Adell, but that price is likely to come down in the weeks ahead. The organization will be looking to rebuild their farm system, which has very little in reserve after a series of ill-advised trades in a desperate attempt to contend last season.
The 30-year-old Ward has been a clear bright spot for the Angels this season. He is hitting .253 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI in 61 games.
The Angels are 24-38 entering play Friday and Mike Trout is already out for the season due to injury. There is little reason for them to not try to maximize what they might get for their few valuable assets, as there are certainly some teams out there that could use some outfield help for the stretch run.
